A portion of ticket sales benefit, a global nonprofit organization working to bring water and sanitation to the world with the goal of making access safe, accessible and cost-effective, according to a news release. Tickets are currently on sale for $26.98 and will jump to $55.99 the day of the event. It has brought thousands of people to the event. The Water Lantern Festival has been across the United States and has toured over 100 cities. “But just looking back onto the beach, as lanterns were launching, there was a full moon, and I just kind of took a second and thought, ‘This is the coolest thing ever to see 3,000 lanterns floating in this beautiful pattern.'” Courtesy Water Lantern Festival ![]() “I had this super unique opportunity where some of our lanterns got out past our buoy line and so I had to swim out and get them,” he said. He recalls working at a past event in another city and being on water duty, making sure that none of the lanterns got too far out. ![]() “It really does feel like a fairytale, very much like a magical night,” he said. Earl said it’s a beautiful visual where lanterns reflect off the water and glow. It will take place in the pond at The Waterfront at Snake River Landing. A lot of people will come to this event as a form of remembrance for someone that they have lost and so you really do get some super inspiring stories from the attendees, which is absolutely fantastic,” Earl said. “I think it is probably the most impactful part of the night. It's special.Right before the lantern launch in the evening, there is an opportunity for people to share what they have decorated on their lanterns and explain what the event means to them. “The lantern launch provides a beautiful opportunity to cry, laugh and awe - all in the midst of your community members. “There is so much raw human emotion that I think we can miss out on in today's society - so much of our time these days are spent behind screens,” Dryden said. The lanterns are made of rice paper and bamboo wood, with recyclable, flame-less LED tea lights. This ensures that we can snag every single lantern when it's time for cleanup.” While it looks as if thousands of glowing lanterns are floating into the sunset, they are actually totally contained the entire time. “We place buoy lines in the water prior to the lantern launch. “It is our promise that we remove every single lantern as well as any additional trash from our venue following each event,” Dryden said. Wanting to remain environmentally conscious, the company is quick to mention its cleanup policy. “Given the excited feedback we received, we’re looking at an even bigger 2019 with over 80 festivals planned so far.” ![]() ![]() “We were so excited to bring this floating lantern festival to 34 cities across the country and celebrate with over 130,000 participants,” Dryden said.
